About the University
Izmir University of Economics, which is the first foundation university in Izmir and in Aegean region, was established in 2001 by “Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation” in accordance with the provisions of Turkish Republic Constitution. The University currently has 8 Faculties, 2 Schools, 3 Vocational Schools, 4 Graduate Schools, and 10 Research and Application Centers. These academic units offer 32 different associate degree programs, 35 different undergraduate programs, 38 different graduate programs, and 9 different PhD programs.
Izmir University of Economics strives to deliver educational programs and learning environment grounded upon the principles of social responsibility, innovation, ethical behavior, and global awareness to the end goal of raising a new breed of self-directed, competent leaders and entrepreneurs. With the help of technology, our University constantly aims to fulfill this thrust.
Locations and Campuses
The campus of Izmir University of Economics, where all eight faculties are located, is equipped with smart class technology and is centrally very close to city center.
City Life
Located in the west of Turkey and on the Aegean shores, Izmir, the pearl of the Aegean, is the third largest city in Turkey with a population of 4.3 million. The city of Izmir has the second biggest port and a major transport hub. With its 8,500-year history, fertile land, favorable climate, long coastlines and 300 sunny days a year, it is a modern, developed and busy commercial city center. The historical city of Izmir hosts well-known places such as Ephesus, Pergamon, Agora and the Virgin Mary House, where Homer wrote world-famous “Ilyad”. With a safe and socially stable population, it has a tolerant cosmopolitan environment. Izmir is 3 hours away from 48 countries on 3 continents by plane.
