Twice a year, the IBSEN representatives of the ten partner universities meet, in May and November. The second meeting this year took place at the Université Polytechnique HAUTS-DE-FRANCE in Valenciennes for the first time on the 11th to the 13th of November. The university formerly known as Université de Valenciennes has been a member since 2016. University representatives from Italy, South Korea, Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Turkey, Finland and the Czech Republic joined the meeting.
In addition to the exchange of news from the universities, work was carried out on how the cooperation between the universities could be expanded and improved. The result was a joint summer school, the “IBSEN week”. The IBSEN week is supposed to take place once a year, as part of the network meetings in May or November, at the university hosting the meeting. Every university is allowed to take one or two students from its own university along to the meeting, who then participate in the IBSEN week. The first IBSEN week will take place in Izmir, Turkey, in November 2019. Izmir is the newest IBSEN member and will host its first network meeting at the same time.
Furthermore, the creation of a joint online course on “International Management and Business” is planned. The course will be managed by the partners at the Université Polytechnique HAUTS-DE-FRANCE in Valenciennes, who have project funds available for the creation of online courses.
A highlight for participants of the IBSEN meeting was meeting French students. The students were given a task to solve and present the results within small groups. They were accompanied and supervised by three IBSEN representatives each. The common language was English. The students were very committed to finding proper solutions and quickly created their presentations. The students found the unique concept very interesting.
